Stockton already secured an automatic playoff spot some time ago however, as the season is winding down and the Heat are seeking more than that.

Jack McNeely, a defenseman, can play in postseason hockey by two different ways.

"I've sort of been playing in the playoffs in the past few months. I'm sort of in the same position in this," McNeely said.

The amateur player of the Heat was signed following his Frozen Four appearance with Minnesota State Mankato. Next up are an appearance in the Calder Cup playoffs.

"You can tell that they're gearing up for the playoffs here and tightening up some bolts here, but no the group is awesome and just excited for the next few months together hopefully," McNeely stated.

The Heat made it to the postseason in March, and at the at the same time that they set the record for single-season points.

"We've checked one of our boxes, which is making the playoffs, but the next one is to get top seed in our division and then hopefully have a good playoffs," Mitch Love said.

"We've worked hard this year to put ourselves in this spot and with our last four games if we can get at least two more wins then we have that bye to the second round, and that'd be really big," Matthew Phillips stated. "That's what we're trying to do."

It's been awhile since the Heat were a participant in the playoffs. COVID-19 has wiped them out of the previous two seasons but the Heat haven't been able to qualify since the 2016-17 season.

"Guys have probably lost their edge in terms of playoff hockey, looks like including our fan base, and so there's going to be a lot of excitement," Love declared.

"I mean that's why you train and that's what you play for is playoffs, and that's when hockey is the most fun and when you get the best out of everybody so we're all super excited to play playoff hockey," Phillips added.

There is a tendency to become lost in the many different scenarios and expectations that accompany the playoffs, which is why the Heat only have one goal in mind.

"We do this each day one at a So you're aware that you won't be able to win a playoff game If you don't get Game One. That's why we have a mindset. Our goal is to beat one opponent at a go," Love said.
